Progress on Lerab Ling's environmentally sustainable heating system

The winter of 2008-09 was particularly cold at Lerab Ling, Rigpa’s main monastery on the remote Larzac plateau in southern France.

Icy temperatures have been recorded almost every day through the winter months. In order to reduce heating costs, and to continue Lerab Ling’s vision of becoming environmentally sustainable, the new wood-chip heating system is nearing completion. It will use wood chips from locally managed forests and cut costs by 50%.
