Rigpa Prayer Request Service
You can sponsor prayers and practices for people who are close to you, who may be ill, facing difficulties, dying, or recently deceased, by sending a prayer request to Lerab Ling. Needless to say, prayers from our community can be requested by anyone, irrespective of their faith.
How Prayers are Done
Lerab Ling is home to a thriving community of monastic and lay spiritual practitioners who observe a daily schedule of prayer, practice and meditation, following one of the most ancient lineages of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
Sogyal Rinpoche has trained a group of practitioners at Lerab Ling in the full range of Vajrayana practices that he himself practices each day, instructing them in all the appropriate visualizations and meditations that apply. Many of these practitioners have completed a three-year retreat with Sogyal Rinpoche and have engaged in further personal retreats and intensive group practices.
All the names that are sent to us for prayers are also forwarded to Dodrupchen Rinpoche, Yangthang Rinpoche and Soktse Rinpoche, three of the most eminent masters that Sogyal Rinpoche has a special connection with. Your name will also be included in their prayers and practices.
We also offer all the names to be included in the dedications made at the drupchens (practice intensives) that Rigpa sponsors each year in India and Nepal. These include the drupchens held by His Holiness Sakya Trizin, Orgyen Tobgyal Rinpoche, Dodrupchen Rinpoche, Rabjam Rinpoche and Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche.
By making an offering, a tangible connection is established between the person who the prayers are requested for, and those who are reciting the prayers on their behalf. Your offering will support monastic and lay-practitioners in exactly the same way as during the time of the Buddha.
The size of the donation does not matter as much as the motivation, however we suggest a minimum offering of €20 to request prayers for someone who is ill or experiencing difficulties, and €40 for someone who has died.
You can request prayers and practices directly online where you can also state the reason for the prayers, so this can be read out to the practising community.
Please note that whilst we cannot guarantee the effectiveness of the prayers, we can ensure that all prayers and practices are performed according to the tradition, in the most authentic way possible.
