Two Types of Dedication

When you request prayers in someone’s name, two different types
of prayer dedication are facilitated:

  1. If your friend or relative is sick or is facing difficulties, prayers
will be dedicated during the daily Tendrel Nyesel tsok practice.
  2. If your friend or relative has died, prayers will be dedicated during
the daily Riwo Sangchö, while Dukngal Rangdrol practices will be done every week for seven weeks (49 days).

You may also send us a picture of your friend or relative, together with the reason why practices are being requested, so that they are read out to the Lerab Ling practising community to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The Prayers in Lerab Ling are carried out by:

The prayers at Lerab Ling are carried out by the monastic and lay community of practitioners, except for Dukngal Rangdrol (a practice for the deceased), which is carried out by a specialized group.

This group is led by senior members of Lerab Ling’s monastic community and is composed of experienced practitioners who have received extensive training from Sogyal Rinpoche, Tulku Pegyal Rinpoche, Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche or Chagdud Khandro.

Your Request for Prayers in Lerab Ling include:

Every two weeks – your name or that of your friend or relative will
be forwarded to two Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Nepal:

  • Gön Thubten Do Ngag Shedrub Dargye Ling in Swayambhunath,
the monastery established by the late Tulku Pegyal; as well as
  • Nubri Gompa, a branch monastery of Chorten Gompa, under the direction of Kyabjé Dodrupchen Rinpoche.

Both monasteries share a close connection to Rigpa and regularly dedicate their practice on our behalf. For those who have died, the monasteries will perform Chang Chok and other special practices. (Chang Chok is a ritual purification practice in which a qualified master guides the consciousness of the deceased to a better rebirth).

Once each year – all the names sent to us for prayers will be forwarded to a number of different Tibetan monasteries, for dedication during their major prayer gatherings and practice intensives (drupchens). This includes:

  • The Vajrakilaya drupchen at Chorten Gompa, Sikkim, presided
over by Kyabjé Dodrupchen Rinpoche and his community of monks.
  • The Vajrasattva drupchen held at Shechen Monastery, Nepal, presided over by Rabjam Rinpoche and Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche.
  • The Yang Nying Pudri drupchen held at the Namgyal Monastery
    in Dharamsala, India.
  • The Tendrel Nyesel drupchö at Thubten Choling, Nepal.
  • The Vajrakilaya drupchö at the Sakya Center in Dehra Dun, India, presided over by HH Sakya Trizin.
  • The Chime Phakme Nyingtik drupchen at Chokling Monastery, Bir, India, presided over by Orgyen Topgyal Rinpoche.
  • The Shinje drupchen held at Tsechu Monastery in Nangchen, Tibet.
