Report on Sogyal Rinpoche's recent visit to Australia

Sogyal Rinpoche recently completed his tour of Australia with a public talk for more than 800 people in Melbourne.

The talk was entitled Finding Peace and Stability in a Troubled World, and Rinpoche offered ways in which meditation can help us meet the difficulties and challenges that we face in our lives today.

Rinpoche began his visit to Australia by leading the annual 10-day retreat for Rigpa students at Myall Lakes near Forster in New South Wales. He also gave a course for business leaders in Sydney, led a short retreat in Tuncurry and gave a public talk in Sydney.

The seventh annual Practical Wisdom Retreat saw forty-five business and community leaders gathered in Sydney for one and a half days of teachings. Two thirds of those participating had attended previous Practical Wisdom retreats.

Rinpoche shared teachings of the Buddha on how to use meditation to directly face and overcome difficulties and negative emotions like anger, in both the personal and professional lives of the participants.

Rinpoche is due to visit Australia again for Rigpa Australia’s next summer retreat in early 2010.

In many cities in Australia, Rigpa runs meditation courses which are suitable for newcomers as well as courses for more experienced students. For more details, visit Rigpa Australia
